Jude T. W. Singleton

I am a linguistics researcher at the University of Florida where I manage the Brain, Language, and Bilingualism Lab. Previously, I obtained my Master’s in Linguistics from UF under the advisorship of Dr. Edith Kaan. Prior to this, I double-majored in Linguistics and English during my undergrad at UF.

Throughout both my undergrad and grad years and into my current role, I have focused on explicating predictive and bilingual processing via psycholinguistic experimental modalities such as EEG and eye-tracking. I am particuarly interested in clarifying the automaticity, pervasiveness, and homogenity of prediction as a language-specific and cognition-general tool for comprehension, especially as these dimensions relate to diverse language profiles and backgrounds.

Outside of research, I am passionate about American maximalist fiction, the filmographies of David Lynch and Béla Tarr, Rainer Maria Rilke, and the music of Swans and Sun Kil Moon.
